Reading the Ryodoraku chart
The physiological mean, the ±0.7σ band, right-left asymmetries, and the patterns that keep recurring.
How it starts
A measurement produces twenty-four numbers. This lesson teaches you to turn them into clinical information, a step many practitioners skip: they take the measurement, glance at the chart for a second, and then treat what they were going to treat anyway.
The rest of the lesson opens with Acupuncture III.
In this lesson you will learn
- Read a complete Ryodoraku chart: mean, band, out-of-band channels, and laterality.
- Work with both band criteria and know what each one contributes.
- Recognize the profile patterns that come up again and again.
- Integrate the chart with Chinese diagnosis without giving it more weight than it deserves.
What is inside
- 1The four readings of the chart
- 2The two band criteria
- 3The overall mean
- 4The patterns that keep recurring
- 5When the chart and the clinical picture disagree

“From pattern to needle, with the patient in front of you.”
The real consultation: differential diagnosis of patterns, the great classical systems (six stages, four levels, Sanjiao), Nakatani's Ryodoraku protocol with electrodermal measurement, and reasoned protocols by body system. It ends with clinical management, applied chronoacupuncture, and an integrated case.
By the end of the course, you will know how to
- Differentiate Zang-Fu patterns from tongue, pulse, and symptoms.
- Apply the six stages and the four levels to a febrile presentation.
- Perform and interpret a complete Ryodoraku measurement.
- Design a reasoned treatment for the twenty most common reasons for consultation.
- Keep a clinical record and follow-up with clear referral criteria.
