Wu Xing: the five families
Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water with their organs, flavors, emotions, tissues, senses, and seasons.
How it starts
The Five Phases are the second major analytical tool of the system, and the one that gives beginners the most trouble, because it arrives as a fifty-cell table that looks like it has to be memorized. It doesn't. What you need is to understand the five gestures, and almost the entire table can be deduced from them.
The rest of the lesson opens with Acupuntura I.
In this lesson you will learn
- Understand the Five Phases as stages of a process, not as substances.
- Describe the characteristic "gesture" of each Phase and deduce its correspondences instead of memorizing them.
- Work with the complete table: organs, tissues, sense organs, emotions, flavors, colors, and seasons.
- Use the correspondences to guide your questioning without falling into single-sign diagnosis.
What is inside
- 1Phases, not elements
- 2The wheel
- 3The five families, one by one
- 4The complete table
