Thoracic and lumbar region
Mechanical low back pain, sciatica, thoracic muscle spasm; the Bladder line and work on Huatuojiaji.
How it starts
This is the region where a Tuina practitioner's hands spend the most time, and it is also where the most important red flags in all of manual therapy are found. That is why the lesson starts with them.
The rest of the lesson opens with Tuina.
In this lesson you will learn
- Rule out lumbar red flags before you touch the patient.
- Tell mechanical low back pain, radiculopathy, and piriformis syndrome apart.
- Carry out the full thoracolumbar treatment sequence.
- Use the Bladder line and the Huatuojiaji points with sound judgment.
- Give the right activity advice, which is part of the treatment.

- Build a complete session with opening, work, mobilization, and closing.
- Treat the cervical, thoracolumbar, and limb regions with sound judgment.
