Pediatric Tuina (Xiao Er Tui Na)

A discipline of its own: points that exist only in children, techniques counted in hundreds of repetitions, and the three indications that work best.

Lesson 22 of 31
Course: Tuina

How it starts

Xiao Er Tui Na is a discipline within the discipline. It is not adult tuina applied with less force: it has its own points that do not exist in adults, it is dosed in number of repetitions, and the direction of the stroke changes the effect.

The rest of the lesson opens with Tuina.

In this lesson you will learn

  • Understand why pediatric tuina is a discipline in its own right and not a scaled-down version of adult tuina.
  • Locate and apply the main pediatric points.
  • Dose by number of repetitions and respect the direction of the stroke.
  • Build a protocol for the conditions that respond best.
  • Recognize pediatric red flags without hesitation.
