Name and classical tradition

Yaoqi, 腰奇, is the “extraordinary point of the waist”: 腰, the lumbar region; 奇, the extraordinary, what lies outside the norm, the same character as in 奇穴, extra point. It lies on the midline, two cun above the tip of the coccyx.

It is a modern point: it does not appear in the classical works we were able to check, and its name describes neither its location nor its function, only its status as an added point. It has been used mainly for epilepsy. It lies on the course of the Du Mai, near GV2, Yaoshu.

Do you use EX-BW8 with your patients?

In the Clinic you record it in the patient's file, next to the tongue, the pulse and the measurements, so at the next session you know exactly what you used. The Atlas is built in.
