Name and classical tradition

Dagukong, 大骨空, is the “great hollow of the bone”: 大, great, here the thumb; 骨空, the hollow between the bones. It is the same term that gives its title to the Gu Kong Lun (骨空論) chapter of the Suwen (Basic Questions), the one on the hollows of the bones. The point is on the dorsum of the thumb, at the joint.

The Zhenjiu Dacheng (Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion) lists it among the extra points: «大骨空二穴,在手大指中節上,屈指當骨尖陷中是穴,治目久痛,及生翳膜內障,可灸七壯». With the finger bent, in the hollow at the tip of the bone, for eye pain that won’t go away and for cataracts, with seven cones of moxa. Its counterpart on the little finger is EX-UE6.

Protocols for the 20 patterns you see most in practice

Each pattern with its tongue, its pulse, the treatment principle and the points to tonify and disperse. Made for the treatment table, not the bookshelf.

Do you use EX-UE5 with your patients?

In the Clinic you record it in the patient's file, next to the tongue, the pulse and the measurements, so at the next session you know exactly what you used. The Atlas is built in.
