Name and classical tradition

Anmian, 安眠, means “peaceful sleep”: 安, calm, peace; 眠, to sleep. It is one of the most transparent names in the Atlas, and also one of the most recent. It lies behind the mastoid process, halfway between TE17, Yifeng, and GB20, Fengchi.

It has no classical history. It does not appear in the works we were able to check, and its name, which says directly what it is for, is typical of the points added in twentieth-century China, when acupuncture was reorganized around specific indications.

Do you use EX-ANMIAN with your patients?

In the Clinic you record it in the patient's file, next to the tongue, the pulse and the measurements, so at the next session you know exactly what you used. The Atlas is built in.
